“Talking Law” is  a monthly program of Community Legal Education sessions for community workers. Our next presentation is:

HOUSING & TENANCY PROBLEMS

A FREE AND PRACTICAL WORKSHOP FOR COMMUNITY WORKERS

Advocacy to all tenants, on all tenancy matters. The Service is funded through interest on rental bonds and has been operating on the Central Coast for over 16 years. The Service initially provides telephone advice and if required follow up advocacy and representation at NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, where resources allow. We do not advise landlord or real estate agents.

In this session, we will present to community workers:
• General overview of tenants’ rights and obligations
• How to get your landlord to do repairs
• What to do if you have rent arrears or receive a Notice of Termination
• How to claim your bond
• What to do if you are listed or have been threatened with being listed on a tenancy database
